Safety

  • We always put the safety of our employees first. We keep our composure and effortlessly maintain our perspective at all times, thereby ensuring the operational safety of our customers. We look thoroughly at the big picture before we act. Safety is our priority and encompasses the physical and emotional safety of our employees as well as operational safety and informational security.

Honesty

  • We treat our colleagues, our customers, and the environment in which we operate in with respect. We are trustworthy, treat others with honesty and deliver on promises. We are honest and say things as they are, but we are also positive and reasonable and treat people how we want to be treated. We stay true to our values and provide each other with guidance when necessary.

  • We are ready to help and listen to the needs of our customers, colleagues, and business partners. Our service to customers and each other is our priority. We strive to deliver value to customers in the right place, at the right time, in the right quality and at the right cost. Delivering excellent service requires teamwork and willingness to help each other.

Health & safety policy HD

Safety is at our hearts and we define safety as physical security, operational security, information security and emotional security – security is for all of us.

  • Safety is a source of operational efficiency, and we contribute to our employees having a high level of safety awareness.
  • We intend to become an accident-free company and we use a culture of continuous reform as a means to that end. We want to have a safe working environment and work placement, and with continuous improvement, we are constantly making our working environment better and safer.
  • We help each other build a culture of security and guide each other when things can be better. All employees should adopt the attitude of speaking out and raise awareness when things could be improved in security matters.
  • We work with contractors, partners, customers, and other stakeholders to create a safe working environment and we are united to ensure the safety of everyone involved in our projects. We respect other people's safety regulations, but if our rules go further, we always follow them and recommend that others do too – we never give a discount to our safety requirements.
  • We often work in hazardous areas, but we return home safely despite this, and although things may go wrong at a workplace where we carry out project risk assessments before they start.
  • We provide all the equipment necessary to ensure the safety of our employees. Staff are jointly responsible for using such equipment (helmets, safety glasses, safety shoes, markings, etc.) and ensuring that we all do.
  • General conduct is an important safety issue, when we leave a workplace we do in such a manner that we would like to come to the day after. This applies equally to workshop conduct and conduct in computer systems.
  • Our goal is to build an effective health & safety system where we inspect our workspaces and make visits to each other’s workspaces and help build and develop a strong safety culture.
  • Every employee has the right to return home safely. This applies every day to all work within the business, we do not want any harm or damage, physical or mentally to any of our employees.

Quality policy HD

  • To be a leader in customer service in the sectors in which the company operates.
  • To deliver outstanding and flawless quality in all its operations and to meet the requirements and expectations of customers, legislation, regulations and other relevant requirements.
  • To base operations on well-defined processes, risk thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Investigating incidents and analysing their root causes to prevent them from happening again
  • To operate in accordance with the certified ISO 9001 quality management system, where standardisation, monitoring and continuous improvement are integrated into all activities.
  • To always have staff with the education, knowledge and experience to carry out projects in a cost-effective, efficient and high-quality manner.
  • That all staff are responsible for the quality of their work and actively participate in achieving set quality objectives.

The company has defined objectives and metrics to support and fulfil the quality policy, which are reviewed annually in light of success and performance.

Equal pay policy

  • Recruitment for vacant posts shall follow the same definitions as opportunities for staff for retraining and continuing education.
  • All genders are encouraged to apply for advertised jobs.
  • The criteria laid down for determining pay shall not involve discrimination on the grounds of sex.
  • Necessary measures shall be taken to enable employees to reconcile their work duties and responsibilities with those to their family.
  • Gender-based violence, gender-based harassment and sexual harassment must be prevented by all means.
  • Equal pay certification based on the equal pay standard ÍST 85 has been implemented.
  • To comply with all applicable laws, regulations and collective agreements in force at any given time.
  • If an unexplained gender pay gap is identified, it must be rectified as soon as possible.
  • The equal pay policy shall be reviewed at least annually, and continuous improvements made where necessary.

HD's Sustainability Policy

HD's sustainability policy aims for the company's operations to be exemplary in Icelandic business life, based on internationally recognised standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The sustainability policy applies to all of HD's operations, and it is to be respected by all staff and the board in all their activities. To support the policy, the company has selected 3 of the seventeen United Nations goals. These goals will serve as a guide for the company's sustainability journey.

Global Goal 7 - Sustainable Energy

  • HD specialises in providing services to energy companies, aiming to prevent them from having to send items abroad for repairs, thereby reducing their customers' carbon footprint.
  • HD has an agreement with Klappir to monitor its carbon footprint and uses green energy sources as far as possible in its operations.
  • HD aims to increase the use of electric cars in its operations.
  • HD emphasises access to charging points for staff and customers at its premises.

Global Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

  • In line with HD's role of serving companies in the industrial, energy and fisheries sectors, the company places an emphasis on technological change and innovation.
  • HD prides itself on the good and responsible management of the company and avoids all waste in its operations.
  • HD encourages unemployed young people to become apprentices and receive a wage for it.
  • HD places great emphasis on the rights of employees in the labour market and only deals with accredited employment agencies that meet the company's requirements.
  • HD has been proactive in welcoming apprentices, looking after them well and providing them with opportunities for career development, and has received recognition for its contribution to the reception of apprentices.

Global Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

  • HD helps companies to maintain equipment, prevent unnecessary downtime and thus ensure the efficient use of resources.
  • HD emphasises the environmentally friendly handling of materials and that the management of waste and pollutants is in accordance with international requirements.
  • HD places great emphasis on making its operations more sustainable wherever possible by reusing where applicable, instead of depleting new resources.
  • HD prides itself on dealing with companies that demonstrate responsibility in their operations and business.
